FAQ'S

WHEN & WHERE

The Wingman Festival takes place on Saturday 6th January 2024. Gates open at 12 pm and the festival finishes at 1 am on Sunday 7th January.

The Festival is being held at Claris Sports Club, 19 Whangaparapara Road, Great Barrier Island / Aotea.

BRING CASH!!!

There will be limited access to EFTPOS machines at the festival, so we strongly suggest bringing cash. Please also note that there is no bank or ATMs on the Island, so bringing cash from town is strongly advised. You can get cash from local stores, but only if it’s available.

PASSOUTS

There will be no pass-outs – this includes returning to your car. This is a licensing condition for the event to go ahead. Please make sure you pack what you need for the day.

UNDER 18’s

If you are under 18 you must be accompanied by a legal parent or guardian.

We will only be selling alcohol to patrons that can present the following forms of ID:
NZ Drivers license / Hospitality NZ (HANZ) card / 18+ card / Passport

NO BYO BOOZE

The smuggling and consumption of BYO alcohol contravenes our liquor licensing agreement. Please do not BYO Booze.

NO GLASS

So we can all continue to frolic about in bare feet, please don’t bring any glass containers.

NO PETS

Please leave your pets at home (not locked in a hot car!) The venue has a strict no pets policy.

BAG CHECKS

Our security teams will check bags upon entry and at certain access points during the festival. This is to prevent any banned items like BYO booze, glass, fireworks, and weapons. We appreciate your patience and cooperation in this.

CAN I BRING A WATER BOTTLE?

You may bring one empty plastic drinking water bottle, up to 1L in size. There are plenty of taps inside the venue to fill these up with. Glass bottles will not be permitted.

COAT CHECK

There will be a coat check available at the venue.

GETTING TO WINGMAN FESTIVAL

GETTING TO THE ISLAND

We strongly recommend arranging your transport to the island far in advance. There are only two transport providers to Great Barrier Island. By air with Barrier Air and by sea with Sealink. Barrier Air has 4 planes, each with a 12-seat capacity so their flights book out quickly. There are more seats available with Sealink but they only operate one ferry a day. So again, it is best to book early. Especially if you are bringing a car

DRIVING

If you are planning to drive, please note that the roads on Great Barrier Island are shared by bikes and pedestrians – all our roads are single lane and we expect increased traffic due to the event. Please drive carefully.

If you require a rental car, there are a few options to choose from. Please be aware that Auckland's anniversary weekend is busy for Great Barrier, and you should book early to secure a vehicle.

PARKING

There will be no parking on-site or within close proximity of the event entrance. Please either park at the Golf Club (further along Whangaparapara Road) or find roadside parking elsewhere. Due to limited parking close to the venue, we strongly encourage carpooling or using the shuttle bus service.
